Tomasz Bajer
The scope of Tomasz Bajer’s artistic activity includes conceptual art, installation, object, action in public space, sculpture, multimedia and painting. His artistic practice is strongly influenced by Dadaist and conceptual art. Tomasz Bajer is interested in the process of creating and disturbing the identity of an individual, a society and spirituality – how a human being is torn apart between the metaphysical and the material. He is also interested in social and political issues, in particular breaking human rights, crypto-nationalism, the commercialisation of culture. He analyses the mechanisms of creating media events, paying special attention to ambiguities and implicit statements which distort their original content. His works are often inspired by history, both general and local, as well as by current affairs.
Guillaume Dimanche
A multidisciplinary artist, educated at the Poitiers and Paris Fine Arts Schools in video art and digital images. He works with video photography, drawing, installation, poetry, performance and graphic design. Each medium is for him the source of dissemination of thought, every tool is complementary to one another. Videographer, photographer, digital and transmedia artist, Guillaume Dimanche in part questions the glut of images, the fragmentation of our field of vision and our ability to draw some information from what we see. He works with compositions in multiple images, re-stages a place, a character, a time of day and offers an impaired, fractionated vision. He builds these tables by writing and assembling arrested extracts of still images. The registered frame is a subject, a sample, one pixel of the picture which the artist uses, moves, superimposing on and off lights to give life to his image. The subject is sublimed. Wojciech Duda
He was born in 1964 in Szczecin. He graduated from the State School of Fine Arts in Poznań. Since 1995 he has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts (presently University of Fine Arts) in Poznań. Since 2002 he has been involved in an art group Wunderteam (together with the late Włodek Filipek, Rafał Jakubowicz, until 2005 Paweł Kaszczyński and since 2005 Maciej Kurak). He works in various media.
Valerie Frossard
She was born in 1978, in Geneva, Switzerland, lives and works in Paris, France.
Valerie Frossard studied photography at the Haute Ecole d'Art et de Design in Geneva (Switzerland) while earning an MA in French and English literature at the University of Geneva. She then moved to Philadelphia (PA, USA) to work as a Teaching Assistant in French at the University of Pennsylvania while studying photography at the School of Design (UPenn). After two years in the US she moved to Paris (France) where she has been working for three years as a freelance photographer. Her personal work is centred around questions of reality versus fiction, truth versus lie, the possible versus the impossible and the liminal space that photography offers within this realm. Her images are carefully staged, constructed into "mise en scènes" that question the self, notions of identity, stereotypes, gender and feminism. Sophie Hjerl
She was born in1971, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1993-2000 with an MA in Art Theory and Art Communication 2000-02.
Sophie Hjerl's primary medium is video, but she also uses a wide range of other media. She works with a sensual, direct and poetic touch in the synthetic world of the new media. Her work brings the viewer into a journey of meditative own reflection, concerning the visible as we (think we) know it. She has exhibited and had her videos screened at museums, galleries and festivals in Denmark and abroad e.g.: 2nd International Biennale of Contemporary Art, Shumen, Bulgaria, around Scandinavia, Switzerland, China, Greece, International Women's Art Festival in Syria, PAN, Palazzo Della Arti, Napoli, Italy, France, Alternative Film/Video Festival 2007, Beograd, Serbia, Bochumer International Video Festival, Germany, PS1, MoMA in Queens, NY and ATA Gallery, SF, USA. She has also curated exhibitions and for a period of two years has been one of two artists curating video art for a big outdoor screen in Holstebro, Denmark, a collaboration between curators, Musikteatret Holstebro and Holstebro Kunstmuseum. Furthermore, she has her own band and holds concerts.
Rosaria Iazzetta
She was born in Mugnano in Naples in 1977. She studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.
In 2002, she was first classified in ministerial scholarship for artists granted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japanese Government. She graduated in Sculpture from Tokyo National University of Art and Music. Though her beginnings were as a painter, by 2003 she had turned her attention to sculptural work and social public performance activity. Some of her large installations aimed against corrupted politics and the criminal organization called Camorra are visible in different cities in the south of Italy. In 2003 the Soh Gallery in Tokyo presented her works. Invited by the art critic Achille Bonito Oliva in 2010, she presented her works as part of Sarenco Foundation at Biennale in Malindi, Kenya. She was awarded the Movin’Up Prize in 2007 by GAI Young Italian Artist Foundation Turin; in 2006 she was invited by ART Residence to Tokyo. Her social projects are shown at MADRE Contemporary Art Museum in Naples, Setsuro Art Museum in Nagoya, Media Art Department at Temple University in Tokyo and Griffen Park at New Castle University, Australia; in March 2011 she had a solo exhibition at Arti Visive Gallery in Naples. She included all her social activities in a book called: “MALA TOLLERANZA” published by Ulisse e Calipso. Rafał Jakubowicz
He was born in 1974 in Poznań. He graduated from the Faculty of Artistic Education (1999) and the Faculty of Painting, Graphic Art and Sculpture (2000) of the Poznań Academy of Fine Arts, where he currently teaches. In 2011 he earned his doctoral degree at the Faculty of Multimedia Communication of the University of Fine Arts in Poznań. He wrote texts for art magazines and exhibition catalogues. Since 2005, he has been member of AICA – International Association of Art Critics.
Peter Lind
He was born in 1961, in Copenhagen, Denmark. He studied cinematography at Instituto science cinematografiche in Italy and at the University of Copenhagen. His works can be found at various public collections, among others at The Museum of Photographic Art, Odense, Denmark; The National Photographic Museum, Copenhagen; The Danish Art-Foundation, Statens Kunstfond; Esbjerg Museum of Art. He contributed to many group exhibitions, such as “Manifesta 8” (Murcia, Spain, 2010); “HQ,” (Galleri Poulsen, Copenhagen, 2009); “Night Shift” (Raketa, Stockholm, Sweden, 2008); “404festival” (Museo Castagnino, Rosario, Argentina, 2004). David Marin
He was born in 1973. Lives and works in Sallanches, France. Piotr Kmita
He was born on 26 September 1981 in Kłodzko, Poland. He studied philosophy at the University of Wrocław. He graduated in Graphic Art from the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts. His diploma work ‘Zniewagi i obrazy’ (‘Insults and Images’) was supervised by Professor Eugeniusz Get-Stankiewicz and was exhibited in BWA Galleries in Wrocław (2006). In his work he uses a variety of formal means (painting, graphic art, installations), which he applies to comment on a wide array of issues, with a special emphasis on the artist’s role in the contemporary world. His works are full of distance and irony, by means of which he challenges influential figures in the artistic world. Among his individual exhibitions are: „Okropności zabawy” (Mieszkanie Gepperta, Wrocław, 2011), „Preview” (Arttrakt, Wrocław, 2011), „Anteprima” (Teatro C, Livorno, Italy, 2011). Marcin Mierzicki
He was born in 1973. Graduated from the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Diploma in Painting in 2001. He is interested in video, and creates sound installations and objects. He carries out projects whose structure provokes interaction and are based on action-in-progress. Received scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2006 and 2011.
Dorota Nieznalska
Graduated in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk; Diploma in 1999 at the Intermedia Faculty. At present she is a PhD student at the Intermedia Faculty of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. In the years 1998-2002 she cooperated with the Wyspa Gallery and the Wyspa Progress Foundation. In 1999, she received The Germinations XI - scholarship in Hull, England as a reward for her Diploma work; in 2000, The Award of the President of Gdańsk for Young Artists and Scientists; in the years 2005/6 a stipend from Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie Regensburg, Germany; in 2009, a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage; in 2010, a scholarship from the Marshall of the Pomorskie Voivodship and the Polish Kultursommer Scholarschip 2010 in Kiel, Germany; in 2011, a residential scholarship from HIAP – Paths Crossing, Helsinki, Finland. Tomasz Opania
Born in 1970 in Gliwice, Poland. In the years 1989 – 1994 he studied at the State School of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Diploma work in Sculpture under the supervision of Professor L. Podsiadły. In 1993 awarded the Minister of Culture’s Scholarship. In the years 1994-96, the Swiss government’s scholarship in the ‘For Young Artists’ programme. Since 1996 employed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, since 2006 as an Assistant Professor in Sculpture. He deals with sculpture, installation, performance. He creates interactive works, putting part of the responsibility on the audience. His choice of materials and techniques depends on a given idea. He carries out happenings and interventions in the public space. The character of his works largely depends on the venue and on the place where he is present mentally at a given moment in time. He has presented his works at numerous individual and group exhibitions, among others in Wrocław, Poland; Geneva, Switzerland; Wiesbaden, Germany; Edinburgh, Scotland.
Kama Sokolnicka
A visual artist who lives and works in Wrocław. Diploma in 2003 at the Faculty of Graphic Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, under the supervision of Professor Get-Stankiewicz. Artistic residences, among others, in the European Centre of Contemporary Artistic Actions in Strasbourg in 2004. Received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2011. Nominated for the Award of the Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation in 2011. Dionisis Christofilogiannis
Born in 1973 in Greece. Lives in Cluj - Romania and Athens – Greece. He has shown his work internationally in various art institutions including AFA, International Contemporary Art Fair of Athens, (Athens, 2011), TINAB, The Prague Contemporary Art Festival (Prague, 2010), National Museum of Arts in Romania (Cluj), as well as in Malta (Valletta, 2011), PAN, Palazzo delle Arti Napoli – Contemporary Museum of Naples (2009), and few times at Nakagawa Gallery in Tokyo. Christian Costa
Born in Warsaw, Poland. He lives in Naples, Italy, and in Warsaw. Costa has experienced a wide variety of ‘public art’ landscapes whilst living in various European cities such as Vienna, Milan, Rome and London. He collaborated with L’Orientale University in Naples and the Silesian University in Katowice as translator and interpreter of essays, literary texts and poetry. Costa has written articles on music and visual arts for the Italian magazines “Rumore”, “NextExit”, “SuccoAcido”. Some of his short stories have been illustrated by L. Dalisi, M. Galateo, P. Mezzacapo. In 2002, he co-founded the container collective; an artistic group and a visual design studio. From 2002 to 2006, Costa had about twenty exhibitions under the name container. During 2008, he conceived and created, along with the artist Fabrizio Ajello, the public art project Spazi Docili (Docile Spaces) focused on the city of Florence. Costa’s preferred techniques are installation, video and performance; often focusing on sound. He uses digital and analogue (Hasselblad) photography to produce raw materials, from which he creates videos or assembles images into collages, drawings or installations. Christian uses the idea of ‘place’ as his medium: identities connected to places, the way they are perceived by the people living there and by the people coming from outside. Nadia Plesner
She was born in 1981. She is a Danish artist working and living in the Netherlands. The disappearing boundaries between the editorial and advertising departments in the media is a central theme in Plesner's work. She is mostly known for the drawing “Simple Living”, in which she portrayed a Darfur child holding a small dressed dog and a caricature of a designer bag as a comment on the media's prioritizing between the genocide in Darfur and celebrity ‘news’ making the front page. Her painting “Darfurnica” made headlines across the world when Plesner won a lawsuit against fashion giant Louis Vuitton in May 2011. The court in the Hague ruled that Plesner is now free to show her previously banned painting “Darfurnica”. Peter Rothmeier Ravn
He was born in1955. Lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. Peter Ravn is a Danish painter. He holds a degree in Architecture and Design from the Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Before his debut as an artist, he was a central figure in the Danish field of design and music with his work on design and visual identity, as record cover and poster designer and as a director of music videos. Around the turn of the millennia Ravn began to paint.
